We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Café Assistant to join our Food & Beverage team at the Waitomo Glowworm Caves Visitor Centre.
About the role:
As a permanent part-time Café Assistant, you’ll help deliver a high-quality food and beverage experience for our visitors. You’ll support the team with customer service, food preparation, café presentation, cleaning, and day-to-day operations to ensure every guest receives a warm, efficient, and memorable experience.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing friendly, helpful, and professional service to visitors.
- Preparing and presenting food and beverages to a high standard.
- Keeping the café, restaurant, counters, tables, and equipment clean and well presented.
- Using the point-of-sale system, EFTPOS processes accurately.
- Restocking fridges and supplies using stock rotation practices.
- Following food safety, health and safety, and company policies and procedures.
- Contributing positively to the team and supporting sustainable practices.
About you:
You’ll be a team player who takes pride in delivering excellent service and maintaining high standards. You’ll be reliable, friendly, well presented, and comfortable working in a busy visitor environment.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage your time effectively.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
- High standards of personal presentation and hygiene.
- Availability to work a 7-day rotating roster.
- A hospitality qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
