About GravitasOPG
GravitasOPG is the government and social research team within One Picture NZ. Our fieldwork gathers the insights that help shape public services, transport and community spaces. Our field team is at the heart of that work, and this role keeps it strong.
About the role
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with people and keeping things on track. Research fieldwork isn't a steady nine to five. We have intense peaks, when several projects overlap, followed by quieter troughs. You'll fill gaps as they come up, and be the go-to person for our field staff so they're supported to do great work.
We're also keen to hear your ideas. If you've found better ways to build and keep a strong casual team, you'll have room to put them into practice.
You'll work closely with the Fieldwork Director and a core team of established field staff, alongside casual and fixed-term staff brought in for each project.
During peak periods, you may be on call for early starts, evenings and or, weekends.
What you'll do
Planning and executing
Fill gaps quickly when plans change
Build rosters so every shift is covered
Keep track of attendance and flag any performance concerns
Make sure field staff follow our quality and health and safety standards
Keep the Fieldwork Director and field team updated on changes or risks
About you
2+ years' experience in administration, coordination or customer service.
You can turn a written brief into a plan and make it happen.
You enjoy working with people and want to grow into a leadership role.
Highly organised, with excellent time management
Calm under pressure and good at solving problems on the spot
Comfortable using Excel and Outlook
Bonus: experience training or supervising others, even informally, or in recruitment or rostering.
