This is a dynamic, nationwide role focused on growing Totara's market presence through quality underwriting outcomes and proactive broker engagement. You'll develop strategic relationships, identify growth opportunities, and work closely with brokers to deliver outstanding service and tailored insurance solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Underwriting body corporate and commercial property business within delegated authority levels
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers across New Zealand
- Increasing awareness and uptake of Totara products within the Steadfast broker network
- Developing and executing strategic sales plans with Totara leadership
- Delivering exceptional broker service that aligns with the Totara brand
- Supporting internal product training and knowledge sharing
- Collaborating with broker partners to obtain risk information and deliver timely underwriting decisions
- Liaising with insurer partners on referred business and negotiating favourable outcomes
- Monitoring portfolio performance and preparing reports for key stakeholders
- Ensuring underwriting activity and documentation remain accurate and compliant with guidelines and standards
- Proven experience in underwriting of body corporate and commercial property insurance
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work autonomously
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to team success
- Knowledge of the New Zealand insurance market, products, and relevant legislation
