The role

Due to internal career progression, TRILITY is seeking a practical, hands-on Project Manager to join our Operations team in Rotorua, supporting the scoping and delivery of wastewater network asset renewal and refurbishment projects.

Working closely with our operational teams, you’ll get out to sites to understand asset condition and operational needs, help develop clear and practical scopes of work, and coordinate contractors to deliver the works. Projects will span wastewater networks, pump stations, treatment facilities, wastewater schemes, land treatment systems and associated infrastructure across the Rotorua district.

This role combines active site involvement with the planning, cost control and contract administration needed to deliver projects safely, efficiently, on time and within budget. You’ll stay involved from initial scoping through delivery, commissioning and operational handover, working with operators, contractors, consultants, councils and regulators to resolve issues, keep work moving and meet contractual, environmental and compliance obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with operational teams to inspect assets, understand renewal needs and help define practical scopes of work

  • Support the scoping and delivery of renewal, replacement, refurbishment and associated capital works across wastewater networks, pump stations, treatment assets and related infrastructure

  • Prepare clear scopes, cost estimates, procurement documentation and tender packages, with supporting business cases and specialist input where required

  • Coordinate contractors, consultants and specialist suppliers, including site access, work sequencing and interfaces with ongoing operations

  • Undertake site visits to check progress and quality, help resolve delivery issues and monitor work against agreed requirements

  • Provide technical input into design and delivery, and coordinate commissioning and operational handover so completed works meet operational needs

  • Maintain project budgets, schedules, risk records and reporting, and administer contracts, variations, extensions of time, claims and payment certifications

  • Liaise with councils, iwi representatives, regulators and other stakeholders to support safe, compliant project delivery

  • Feed condition assessments, site findings and completed-work information into asset management planning, future renewal priorities and continuous improvement

  • Work alongside operational teams to provide practical technical support, share knowledge and resolve delivery issues

What are looking for

  • 5+ years’ practical experience scoping and delivering water, wastewater or civil infrastructure projects, including renewal and refurbishment works

  • Sound knowledge of wastewater networks, pump stations, treatment plants and related assets, with the ability to turn operational needs into clear scopes of work

  • Confidence working on site with operators, contractors and specialist suppliers, coordinating works, checking progress and quality, and resolving practical delivery issues

  • Sound cost control, procurement, contract administration and stakeholder coordination skills, supported by practical technical judgement

  • Relevant Project Management qualifications and a current NZ driver’s licence
