The role
Your day-to-day duties may include:
- Assisting with general civil construction and earthworks activities.
- Supporting machine operators and other crew members on site.
- Carrying out site preparation, digging, backfilling and general groundworks.
- Installing and handling materials, tools and equipment.
- Maintaining tidy, organised and safe work areas.
- Following instructions from supervisors and leading hands.
- Identifying and reporting hazards and following site health and safety procedures.
- Previous civil construction or earthworks experience is an advantage.
- A strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Reliability and punctuality, with a commitment to turning up ready to work.
- The ability to undertake physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- A willingness to learn new skills and take direction from experienced crew members.
- A minimum of restricted NZ Class 1 driver's licence.
- ConstructSafe or equivalent site safety training is an advantage where applicable.
- $26–$30 per hour, depending on experience.
- Daily travel allowances, subject to agreed eligibility criteria.
- Long-term work on a substantial civil construction project.
