Commercial HVAC Testing, Troubleshooting & Quality Assurance
Openwork is hiring an experienced HVAC Test Stand Technician for an established manufacturing company in Houston, TX 77073.
This hands-on position focuses on testing commercial HVAC equipment, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, interpreting technical drawings, and verifying equipment performance.
We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented technician with strong HVAC knowledge, mechanical skills, and the ability to identify and resolve equipment issues.
Position Details:
- Location: Houston, TX 77073
- Pay: $30.00–$35.00/hr | Weekly Pay
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:45 PM–3:45 AM
- Shift: 2nd Shift (PM)
- Employment: Full-Time
- Overtime: Required as needed based on company needs.
- Pay Based On: Experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test and evaluate commercial HVAC equipment to verify performance and operation.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and HVAC system issues.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical instructions.
- Set up, operate, and adjust HVAC testing equipment.
- Use pressure gauges, thermometers, and other testing instruments.
- Identify equipment malfunctions and report findings to supervisors.
- Record test results, measurements, and equipment performance data.
- Prepare accurate test reports and documentation.
- Perform routine maintenance on testing equipment.
- Follow safety procedures and quality standards.
- Support continuous improvement and manufacturing operations.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on commercial HVAC experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of HVAC testing, troubleshooting, repair, or related technical experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and equipment operation.
- Experience diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Experience using HVAC testing instruments and measuring tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Basic computer skills and accurate documentation abilities.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Availability to work Monday–Friday, 2:45 PM–3:45 AM, with overtime as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Vocational or technical HVAC training is a plus.
- Must be willing to complete a pre-employment hair follicle and urinalysis drug screening.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Manufacturing and HVAC equipment testing environment.
- Hands-on work with commercial HVAC equipment and testing systems.
- Frequent use of hand tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work safely around electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Follow required PPE and workplace safety procedures.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and overtime based on operational needs.
