Operations Manager – Landscape Construction

OuterSpace Landscapes | Full-time

OuterSpace Landscapes is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead our national landscape construction projects and support the teams delivering them.

We’re looking for someone who knows construction, can bring out the best in people and takes pride in seeing a project through properly. You’ll be comfortable on site with our crews, discussing progress with clients and working through project programmes and costs.

The opportunity

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll oversee our commercial landscaping projects across our regions, from initial handover through to completion.

You’ll work closely with our site teams, foremen, estimators and quantity surveyors to plan work, coordinate resources and keep projects on track. This role needs someone who stays involved, spots potential problems early and makes clear, practical decisions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing multiple projects to meet agreed programmes, budgets and quality standards.

  • Leading and supporting our foreman and their site teams, with clear expectations and regular communication.

  • Coordinating labour, subcontractors, materials and equipment so teams have what they need.

  • Monitoring project costs, progress and claims alongside our estimating and QS teams.

  • Building strong client relationships and keeping clients informed throughout their projects.

  • Maintaining a strong focus on site safety and quality workmanship.

  • Resolving issues promptly and ensuring projects are completed and handed over properly.

  • Keeping the SLT (senior leadership team) informed and improving how we plan, manage and deliver our work.

What you’ll bring

You’ll have proven experience managing construction projects and a sound understanding of what it takes to deliver quality work on site. Experience in landscape construction or a closely related field will be valuable.

We’re looking for:

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to earn the respect of your team.

  • Experience managing several projects and competing priorities.

  • Practical construction knowledge, including reading plans and specifications.

  • Sound commercial judgement and confidence managing project budgets.

  • Clear communication and the ability to build positive relationships with clients, staff and subcontractors.

  • An organised approach, initiative and a willingness to take responsibility.

  • Confidence using project management software.

  • A full driver’s licence and a willingness/ability to travel between regions.

  • Experience with Procore and similar software would be an advantage.

What we offer

  • A senior role working directly with and part of the SLT (senior leadership team).

  • Be an integral part of a wide variety of commercial landscape construction projects.

  • The opportunity to develop our teams and improve how projects are delivered.

  • A company vehicle and fuel card for business use, plus a work phone and laptop.

This is a full-time position working a minimum of 45 hours per week, generally Monday to Friday. Travel and flexibility will be required to support our projects and teams.
