The role combines hands-on development, distributed microservices architecture, cloud engineering across Azure and AWS, database expertise, technical guidance, and stakeholder collaboration to enable reliable and efficient software delivery.
JavaScript and Node.js: Strong hands-on expertise in building, debugging, testing, and maintaining production-grade backend applications and services.
Distributed microservices architecture: Experience designing scalable, resilient, loosely coupled services, including synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns.
API engineering: Strong knowledge of REST APIs, API design, versioning, validation, error handling, authentication, authorization, and secure integration practices.
MongoDB and Cosmos DB: Practical experience with data modelling, indexing, query optimization, partitioning, performance tuning, and operational troubleshooting.
Microsoft Azure: Experience with relevant Azure application, integration, monitoring, identity, security, networking, and deployment services.
Amazon Web Services: Working experience with AWS application hosting, serverless, storage, database, monitoring, identity, security, and deployment services.
Cloud-native engineering: Experience with containers, Docker, Kubernetes, configuration management, resiliency, scalability, and twelve-factor application principles.
DevOps and CI/CD: Experience integrating build, test, security, deployment, and quality controls into automated delivery pipelines.
Observability and reliability: Knowledge of structured logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, incident investigation, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.
Security engineering: Understanding secure coding, secrets management, dependency risk, data protection, identity controls, and cloud security practices.
Leadership and collaboration: Ability to guide engineers, review designs and code, coordinate delivery, communicate risks, and work effectively with product, QA, architecture, and business stakeholders.
Engineering governance: Strong analytical, documentation, estimation, technical decision-making, risk management, and continuous improvement skills.
