POSTION: GENERAL MANAGER

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to lead Ramada Encore Hotel Palmerston North through an exciting period of refurbishment, repositioning and expansion.
Located in the heart of Palmerston North, Ramada Encore is a 40-room, 4-star apartment-style hotel ideally positioned for both corporate and leisure travelers visiting the Manawatū region.
This is more than a traditional hotel management role.
We are looking for a whole-of-hotel leader who can take overarching responsibility for the Hotel's operational and commercial performance while playing a key leadership role in the refurbishment, enhancement and expansion of the property.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to Marsden Group, the management company for the Hotel, the General Manager will provide a single point of overarching operational leadership and accountability across the property.
A key focus of the role will be ensuring the Hotel is operationally ready for its next phase, including refurbishment and the commissioning of additional bedroom inventory.
You will be responsible for:
Leading the Hotel's overall operational and commercial performance.
Providing strong whole-of-Hotel leadership and accountability.
Taking a lead role in the refurbishment and operational project.
Planning and preparing for the opening and commissioning of additional rooms.
Managing the increased operational scale of the Hotel.
Enhancing the Hotel's product, service and guest experience.
Building capability and developing a high-performing team.
Ensuring effective coordination across all Hotel departments.
Strengthening operational systems, procedures and standards.
Working closely with Marsden Group, Head Office, owners, contractors and project stakeholders.
Providing increased management reporting and commercial accountability.
Ensuring the Hotel is positioned for a successful transition following refurbishment and expansion.
About You
You will be an experienced hospitality leader with a proven ability to take ownership of a property's overall performance.
You will bring:
Previous experience as a General Manager, Hotel Manager or senior hotel leader.
Strong whole-of-hotel operational knowledge.
Proven commercial and financial management capability.
Experience leading and developing teams.
Strong organisational and project management skills.
The ability to manage change and increased operational complexity.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
A hands-on, solutions-focused approach.
A strong understanding of guest experience, service standards and operational excellence.
Experience in hotel refurbishment, development, pre-opening, commissioning or operational expansion will be highly advantageous.
