Do you have the energy of a thousand jazz hands and the ability to confidently lead a room full of kids? If so, you might just be the superhero we're looking for!

Splat! Drama is growing, and we're looking for an awesome Christchurch tutor to join our small but mighty team!

As a Splat! tutor, you'll lead hilarious, energetic, and playful drama sessions for children aged 5–13. Your mission? Guide groups of 5–15 kids through drama games and rehearsals, creating a safe, silly, and supportive environment where everyone can thrive.

You don't need to be a performer or actor (although cool if you are!) Our classes aren't about preparing the next Broadway superstar. They're about building confidence, trying new things, and being wonderfully silly along the way!

Lesson plans and scripts are sorted for you, and you'll meet online with our teaching team each week to prepare for lessons, share ideas, and debrief challenges.

Classes run for 8 weeks each school term, finishing with a relaxed performance for friends and family.

The Role

We're looking for someone to start in Term 1, 2027, with paid training opportunities available beforehand.

This is a contractor position involving approx 6 classes and one paid online team meeting per week, across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Classes take place before school, during lunchtime, and immediately after school at various Christchurch primary schools.

What We're Looking For:
Experience in drama, performing arts, teaching, or education is a bonus, but it's not essential!
Behaviour Management:You can set clear boundaries, manage challenging behaviour, and keep a group of excited kids engaged.
Flexibility & Adaptability:You can think on your feet and adjust your approach to suit different children, groups, and situations.
Empathy & Care:You're patient, observant, and understand that every child has different needs and confidence levels.
Fun & Creative:You're happy being silly, imaginative, and playful. Weirdness is highly encouraged at Splat!
Self-Management & Reliability:You'll usually be teaching independently, so we need someone who is organised, trustworthy, and proactive.

You'll Need:

  • A full or restricted driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle for travelling between schools.

  • A current First Aid certificate or willingness to complete one.

  • Willingness to undergo a Police Vetting check.

  • Availability on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays during school terms, with flexibility to teach before school, at lunchtime, and after school.

Why Work for Splat!?
Awesome Pay: Earn $40–$60 per class (45–60 minutes), depending on student enrolments. Training and team meetings are paid too!
Room to Grow: Opportunities for additional classes, holiday programme work, and increased responsibility as we expand.
Creative Freedom: We provide lesson plans, scripts, resources, and training. You bring your own personality and creativity!
A Team That Has Your Back: Our teaching team provides ongoing support, while we handle enrolments, payments, and most parent/school communications. You can focus on the fun stuff!
