About the company

Our client is a New Zealand property investment manager that gives investors access to quality commercial property. The business is in a strong growth phase, with multiple joint ventures underway across New Zealand and Australia, and a lean, experienced team that values getting stuck in.

The role

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Fund Accountant will support the fund and investor side of the business as it grows. You will own transaction accounting and investor reporting across the funds, while working closely with investors on their payments, performance and account changes. This is a broad role for someone who wants more than a narrowly defined finance seat.

Key responsibilities
  • Prepare transaction accounting across property funds and investment vehicles
  • Produce monthly investor reporting and forecasting
  • Manage investor communications, including distribution and payment updates, investment performance queries and bank account changes
  • Support the CFO with fund-level reporting, reconciliations and month-end
  • Develop a working knowledge of property transactions and the asset classes the business invests in
  • Contribute to joint venture activity across New Zealand and Australia as the pipeline grows
  • Pitch in across the wider business on projects and ad hoc analysis
Skills and experience
  • CA or CPA qualified, or well progressed
  • Experience in fund accounting, property accounting, or assurance with property and investment clients
  • Strong technical accounting and sound judgement
  • Confident, clear communication with investors and stakeholders
  • Comfortable working across both detailed transactions and broader fund responsibilities
  • Advanced Excel. Xero experience is helpful.
  • Big 4 or chartered accounting firm candidates looking to move into property investment are encouraged to apply
What’s in it for you

This role reports straight to the CFO in a business on a clear growth trajectory. With joint ventures underway on both sides of the Tasman, you will get close exposure to how property deals are structured, funded and reported to investors. The team is small and collaborative, so you can expect real variety, visibility and room to grow your role as the business expands.

Benefits
  • Direct reporting line to the CFO
  • Exposure to NZ and Australian joint ventures
  • Collaborative, relaxed team culture
  • Central Auckland location
