Junior Lab Technician – Metrology & Calibration

We have a rare opportunity in our busy and accredited calibration laboratory for a junior technician to join our team.

We’re looking for a motivated and positive person who is ready to use their excellent attention to detail and data analysis skills in a technical and scientific environment, and be a key part of ensuring expert accuracy and great outcomes for our clients who come from all around NZ and the Pacific.

What we’re looking for;

·         A strong aptitude for numerical work and attention to detail

·         An interest in scientific measurement, testing, and data analysis

·         Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications

·         A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills

·         The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

·         Strong communication skills

 Qualifications or experience in a laboratory are not essential as we provide training and on-the-job opportunities to learn from our great leadership team and friendly technicians. What’s most important is that you have a solid work ethic, are motivated to learn and enjoy working in a busy team environment.

 The role:

This is a full time position based in our lab and workshop in New Plymouth, providing test and calibration services for the oil & gas, dairy, water, renewable energy sectors and more.

You can expect to be doing a broad range of tasks everyday, including:

·         Capturing and recording test results for our certificates

·         Setting up jobs and customer records in our task management and invoicing systems

·         Helping our senior technicians perform testing, calibrations and repairs

·         Working closely with our Quality and Health and Safety team for our regular audit requirements and ensuring our record keeping, procedures and equipment are ship-shape
