Position Summary...
What you'll do...
We are looking for someone who can step into an ambiguous business problem, ask the right questions, challenge assumptions, use data and AI to develop a point of view, and work with stakeholders to turn that insight into operational change.Success in this role comes from critical thinking, structured problem solving, business judgment, analytical curiosity, and the ability to influence people. Data, technology, and AI are tools you will use to solve problems—not the end product.
You will work within Walmart Transportation, where relatively small improvements can operate at significant scale.
About the team:
Our team sits at the intersection of operations, analytics, technology, and transformation.
We work on problems where:
- the question may not be clearly defined,
- the data may not immediately tell the full story,
- multiple stakeholders may see the problem differently,
- and the solution often requires changing how work gets done.
We value people who improve the thinking, not just execute the request they were given.
What you'll do:
- Partner with operational stakeholders to understand problems, opportunities, and how work gets done.
- Break ambiguous problems into clear questions and analytical approaches.
- Use data to quantify opportunities, test hypotheses, and support business decisions.
- Challenge assumptions when data or operational context suggests a different answer.
- Identify patterns, inconsistencies, and root causes rather than stopping at surface-level reporting.
- Translate analysis into clear recommendations business partners can understand and act on.
- Influence stakeholders and drive adoption of changes without relying on positional authority.
- Use AI and modern analytical tools to accelerate analysis, problem solving, and automation.
- Validate and challenge AI-generated analysis, code, and recommendations before using them to make decisions.
What you'll bring:
We are looking for demonstrated evidence of the following: critical thinking, business/analytical judgment, ownership, stakeholder/change management, and technical/AI fluency.
- You are comfortable working where the problem, answer, or process is not already defined.
- You can interpret data, choose meaningful metrics, and distinguish useful signals from noise.
- You take responsibility for the quality of the analysis and recommendation, regardless of which tools produced it.
- You can communicate complex ideas clearly to nontechnical partners.
Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to a specific plan or program terms.
