As we evolve our business, we’re changing how we bring together our people, specialist expertise and project leadership. We’re now looking for an experienced Professional Services Manager to lead the performance, capability and development of our New Zealand professional services team.
This is a newly created role with genuine influence and scope to shape how it works.
The opportunity
At the heart of this role is a simple goal: help talented professionals do their best work and build great careers at Parallaxx.
You’ll provide the people leadership home for our NZ professional services team, bringing together performance, professional development, capability and workforce planning.
You won’t be expected to own every project or be the technical expert in every discipline. Instead, you’ll work alongside our Service Line Leaders and Project Leaders to make sure we have capable, high-performing people in the right places to deliver for our clients and business.
You’ll:
Lead, coach and develop experienced Consultants and other professional services people
Create clear expectations and meaningful performance and development conversations
Help our people strengthen their consulting, client and commercial capability
Build clear development and career pathways and support people to progress
Understand the capability we have today and what we’ll need for the future
Bring together the picture across capacity, workload, utilisation and performance
Work with Service Line and Project Leaders to anticipate demand and make good resourcing decisions
Recognise great contribution and tackle performance issues early and constructively
Inform recruitment, workforce and capability decisions
Help our NZ and Philippines teams work as one connected Parallaxx capability
About you
You know professional services because you’ve lived it.
You understand what it’s like to build trusted client relationships, understand what a client really needs, deliver great work, manage competing priorities and do it all within a commercial environment.
More importantly, you know how to lead people doing that work.
You’ll bring:
Significant experience in consulting, professional services or another comparable client-facing environment
Strong experience leading, coaching and developing experienced professionals
Commercial acumen and a good understanding of utilisation, capacity, workload and performance
The confidence to have honest conversations about performance, development and expectations
Experience making or influencing workforce, capability, recruitment and resourcing decisions
Strong judgement and an ability to see the bigger picture across people and business performance
The ability to influence and build relationships across different areas and levels of a business
A practical, collaborative leadership style
You don’t need to be the deepest technical expert in every area of Parallaxx.
What matters is that you understand what great professional services looks like, you can earn the respect of experienced professionals, and you know how to help good people become even better.
