Looking for a unique opportunity to practice U.S. law while living in New Zealand? Norris Echetebu Law is seeking a U.S.-licensed Associate Attorney to join our boutique firm in Parnell.
This is a client-facing role where you’ll work closely with international and New Zealand-based clients on a range of U.S. legal matters. You’ll collaborate directly with our Senior Counsel and Managing Partner, gaining exposure to diverse, high-quality legal work across commercial, corporate, immigration, and intellectual property law.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll handle a variety of U.S. legal matters, including:
Drafting, reviewing and advising clients on U.S. commercial transactions, contracts, and dispute matters
Preparing and reviewing U.S. business immigration petitions and applications
Advising on corporate formation and structuring in the United States
Set-up of US entities, and Compliance and Maintenance
Supporting clients with U.S. copyright and trademark registrations
Contributing to general business advisory work and client relationship management
You’ll work directly with clients, help shape practical legal solutions, and be part of a tight-knit team that values excellence, integrity, and collaboration
What We’re Looking For
Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (preference for California or New York State)
2–5 years’ recent experience practising U.S. law, ideally in one or more of:
- Commercial transactions and/or litigation
- U.S. business immigration
- Intellectual property (copyright and trademark)
- Corporate Law (M&A, Private Wealth, VC Funding)
- IPO’s and Acquisitions
- Technology, data privacy and AI law
- Corporate tax Law with international implications
Our preferred candidate will also have;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong client service mindset and the ability to work independently
- Strategic, creative and outside-the-box thinker
- Experience working across cultures or international jurisdictions is a plus
- New Zealand work experience or residence is a bonus
