About the role
Demand for Halter is surging, and we’re growing our team in the North Island to keep up! We’re looking for a hungry, driven sales leader to help grow Halter across the Lower North Island dairy market.
This is a role for a go-getter who’d rather be out in the paddock than behind a desk. You’ll be meeting farmers, championing Halter, and turning conversations into customers. A never-give-up attitude is a must, because you’ll play a huge part in Halter’s growth and success across the region.
You’ll lead from the front. You’ll set and manage targets and commissions for the team, build sales capability, and coach and mentor our junior sales staff to reach their potential. At the same time, you’ll bring your strong sales background to the full sales cycle, from cold calls and on-farm meetings to getting to know each customer’s farm system inside out. You’ll show farmers exactly what Halter can do for them, move the sale forward, and close the deal.
This is your chance to make your mark, push the boundaries of farming, and help connect animals and people like never before.
*Location: You can be based anywhere in the Lower North Island, ideally in Manawatū, Hawke’s Bay or Taranaki. Frequent travel is part of the role.
Who we’re looking for
Leading the team: Setting and managing quotas, commissions and the other moving parts that keep a sales team firing.
Growing your people: Coaching, mentoring and developing our junior sales staff so they hit their targets and grow their careers.
Prospecting: Finding new opportunities through outreach, referrals, introductions, industry events and inbound enquiries.
Closing deals: Hitting ambitious growth targets by managing your pipeline from first contact to close, including screening, qualifying, running on-farm demonstrations and negotiating contracts.
Setting customers up for success: Working with our Customer Success team to make sure handoffs, implementations and renewals go smoothly, and keeping customers informed and supported while they wait for deployment.
Building the brand: Getting out to industry and Halter events and demonstrations, and building relationships that grow Halter’s reputation in the region.
Voice of the customer: Keeping farmers’ needs front and centre and sharing feedback that helps shape what we build next.
Sharpening the process: Working with the team to make our sales process faster, more efficient and more predictable as Halter scales.
What your day could look like
A seasoned all-rounder: At least three years of experience across the full sales cycle.
A proven hunter: A strong track record of finding new prospects, landing meetings and creating new opportunities.
A value-based closer: Deep experience in value-based selling, with a history of closing deals and delivering high-volume results.
A compelling communicator: You come prepared and can clearly show farmers the value Halter brings.
Driven and organised: Results-focused, highly motivated and excellent at managing your time.
Cool under pressure: You adapt quickly in a high-stakes environment and think on your feet.
Industry experience: A background in dairy farming or the wider agricultural sector is highly preferred, and sales or sales leadership experience in technology is a bonus.
