About the role

On behalf of our clients, we're looking for two highly skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanics to join their teams. The two roles are quite different, so pick the one that suits you:

  • Fleet role — service the client's own plant and fleet: maintenance, repairs, and making sure the trucks are CoF compliant.

  • Workshop role — a busy workshop servicing customer and fleet plant and equipment, plus routine service work as required.

Both roles are based in Christchurch. We also have other clients who are always looking for mechanics and service technicians, so if these roles aren't for you, tell us what you're looking for.

A quick word on right to work
You'll need to already be living in New Zealand with the right to work here. These roles are based in Christchurch and we're not offering visa sponsorship, so if you're not currently in NZ with existing work rights, we won't be able to consider your application.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain, diagnose and repair heavy diesel engines and associated systems

  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical faults and get gear back to work fast

  • Overhaul and rebuild major components

  • Keep machinery safe, CoF compliant and performing, with detailed service logs

  • Plan preventive maintenance with operators and keep parts stocked

About you

  • Solid experience on heavy diesel engines, trucks and plant

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

  • Clear communicator who works well with operators and the team

  • The right to work in NZ (no sponsorship, sorry)

  • Pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing applies

The work is hands-on and physical, in a workshop and around trucks and plant.

  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems

  • Experience training or mentoring other mechanics

  • A Class 2, 4 or 5 licence for road testing

Benefits

  • Your choice of fleet or workshop work, with more options if neither fits

  • Genuine long-term opportunities with Christchurch companies

  • [hours/roster — see item 2]
