As part of our team, you’ll work on market-leading projects with some of the most experienced and passionate people in the industry. Together, we get stuff done and own the impact of our work, with respect and safety always at the core.
Founded in 2015, we are the exclusive offshore wind development partner to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, the world’s largest dedicated fund manager within greenfield energy investments.
So, if you are ready to go further than you ever imagined, we are eager to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
The role:
As Land Acquisition Manager, you will lead the land acquisition activities supporting COP’s offshore wind projects in South Korea. You will be responsible for helping secure the land and landowner consents required for the construction and operation of key onshore infrastructure, including substations and transmission facilities.
Working closely with the Development, EIA and EPC teams, you will develop and execute land acquisition strategies, coordinate specialist consultants and build constructive relationships with landowners, residents, government authorities and other external stakeholders.
This is a hands-on role requiring local knowledge, sound judgement and strong stakeholder-management capabilities. You will bring structure and momentum to complex land acquisition processes, while ensuring that activities remain aligned with project schedules and development priorities.
You will join an international team of permitting and development specialists and report to the Development Director. The position will be offered on a fixed-term employment contract.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Develop and execute land acquisition strategies to support the timely construction and operation of COP’s offshore wind projects in Korea.
- Lead land acquisition and landowner-consent activities for onshore substations, transmission facilities and other associated infrastructure.
- Coordinate the identification, assessment and securing of suitable land required for project development, construction and operations.
- Manage and engage with landowners, local and neighbouring residents, local governments and relevant authorities.
- Work closely with the Onshore Development and Stakeholder Manager to ensure a coordinated approach to local engagement.
- Participate in meetings with external stakeholders, including government authorities, NGOs, consultants, universities, researchers and community representatives.
- Appoint, coordinate and manage specialist land acquisition consultants, engineering companies and other external advisers.
- Support negotiations with landowners and affected stakeholders to obtain the necessary consents and secure land within the required project timelines.
- Prepare documentation, decision papers, plans and progress reports relating to land acquisition activities.
- Identify land-related risks, constraints and opportunities, and provide practical recommendations to project leadership.
- Support the Development, EIA and EPC teams on land acquisition matters, including the assessment of potential grid and transmission routes.
- Maintain accurate records of stakeholder engagement, land negotiations, commitments, consents and project dependencies.
- Ensure that land acquisition activities are conducted professionally, respectfully and in alignment with project requirements.
- Collaborate with Korean, regional and global colleagues, sharing local knowledge and contributing to effective project development.
Your experience:
We are looking for an experienced land acquisition professional with a strong understanding of how land is identified, negotiated and secured for major renewable energy or infrastructure projects in South Korea.
You are likely to bring:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or another relevant discipline.
- More than 10 years of relevant experience in land acquisition for renewable energy, power, transmission or infrastructure projects in Korea.
- Practical experience managing land acquisition processes for large and complex projects.
- Experience securing landowner consents and coordinating negotiations with landowners, residents and other affected stakeholders.
- A strong understanding of South Korean land acquisition and permitting procedures.
- Experience working with local governments, public authorities, consultants and community stakeholders.
- The ability to manage external land acquisition consultants, engineering companies and specialist advisers.
- Strong coordination, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- The ability to prepare clear documentation, decision papers and progress reporting.
- A proactive and collaborative approach, combined with perseverance and close attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritise and execute activities against demanding project deadlines.
- A global mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively with both local and international colleagues.
- Professional fluency in Korean and the ability to communicate effectively in English.
- A strong understanding of Korean business practices and culture.
Experience in land acquisition for 154kV or higher-voltage overhead transmission-line projects in Korea would be highly advantageous. Experience gained within a consultancy or on a major project combining offshore and onshore infrastructure would also be beneficial.
