City of Adelaide
The City of Adelaide is a vibrant and dynamic city that consists of more than 30,000 residents and over 330,000 daily visitors. More than 900 dedicated staff work towards community and business outcomes by deriving maximum value from revenue exceeding $300m. Following the retirement of a long serving incumbent, Council now seeks to appoint a new Director, City Infrastructure.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer as part of a five person Executive Leadership Team and working closely with the Lord Mayor and Elected Members, key areas of responsibility of this significant role will include:
inspiring and leading a high-performing, collaborative, inclusive and accountable workforce and culture, building engagement and attracting and retaining talent for a portfolio team of more than 120;
building and sustaining effective relationships across industry, government, customer and community stakeholders, enhancing Council's reputation and impact;
leveraging the development and management of Council infrastructure/property in partnership with the private and public sectors to generate income, create employment, reinvigorate precincts and build a prosperous City;
proactively providing strategic, tactical and technical advice to the CEO and Elected Body in regard to infrastructure and property;
ensuring sound financial governance for a significant operational and project based budget of over $90m.
Applications are encouraged from appropriately qualified and highly experienced executives with a track record of leadership in a complex and publicly accountable, infrastructure and/or property environment. Experience in local government may be an advantage but is not an essential requirement. You will bring proven experience in developing strategic direction, driving organisational performance and sustainability, leading high performing teams, building trusted stakeholder relationships, and identifying and realising opportunities for impact.
Commercial and political acumen and the professional credibility to lead within highly visible and accountable domains will be vital, as will be the capacity to model Council’s core values of achievement, collaboration, customer commitment, integrity and innovation.
