Streamside Organics is a 30ha certified organic vegetable farm located in Leeston. We are seeking a motivated and capable Packhouse Manager to support the daily operations of our packhouse and ensure high-quality produce is packed efficiently and delivered on time.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, leading people, and driving high standards.
About the role
The Packhouse Manager is responsible for overseeing produce from the wash pad through to dispatch. You'll lead the packhouse team, ensure quality standards are met, and coordinate daily operations to achieve packing targets and delivery deadlines.
Success in this role comes from combining strong leadership with excellent organisation, communication, and attention to detail. You'll be responsible for building a positive, accountable team culture where people are engaged, supported, and performing at their best.
Key responsibilities
Oversee produce from the wash pad through to dispatch.
Ensure high standards of quality, presentation, and efficiency.
Plan and coordinate daily packhouse activities to meet production targets.
Lead, organise, and supervise the packhouse team.
Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for results.
Coach, train, and develop staff to improve performance and capability.
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and development conversations
Foster a positive, productive, and engaged team culture.
Monitor and report on packhouse performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Attend management meetings and contribute to operational planning.
Ensure Health & Safety requirements are met at all times.
About you
Proven experience leading a team and achieving operational targets.
Strong leadership, communication, and people-management skills.
Experience coaching staff, providing feedback, and managing performance.
Able to motivate others while maintaining high standards and accountability.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Reliable, proactive, and solutions-focused.
Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment.
Experience in horticulture, packhouses, food production, or manufacturing is an advantage but not essential.
