About the role
You'll drive a real mix of gear across Christchurch, Rolleston and Rangiora — 6-wheeler tippers, water carts and moxies (articulated dump trucks). Tipping, bulk cartage and moving machinery on civil sites, and this summer, delivering hotmix and asphalt to road maintenance crews. Local work, not line haul.
Also hiring: Class 5 drivers and machine operators
Class 5 truck and trailer drivers: tipping, bulk cartage and machinery transport, at a higher rate
Excavator (digger) operators: bulk earthworks, drainage, trenching and final trim, mostly up to 20 tonne
Loader operators: on civil and roading sites

Tell us what you're good at, and what you want to be doing. It's our job to find the perfect role for you. Most roles are day shift, with some nights available. We've got roles starting now and more over the next three to four weeks, so if you need to give notice, that's fine — get in touch anyway.
A quick word on right to work
You'll need to already be living in New Zealand with the right to work here. These roles are based in Canterbury and we're not offering visa sponsorship, so if you're not currently in NZ with existing work rights, we won't be able to consider your application.
Key responsibilities
Drive 6-wheeler tippers, water carts and moxies on civil, earthworks and roading jobs
Deliver hotmix and asphalt to road maintenance crews over summer
Cart bulk materials to and from sites, and move machinery when it's needed
Get out of the cab and give the crew a hand when it's needed
About you
A full, current NZ Class 4 licence
Truck driving experience on civil, earthworks or roading sites
Someone who respects the truck and looks after the gear
The right to work in NZ (no sponsorship, sorry)
This role includes pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing
Even better if you've got
Your Class 5 — there's higher-paid truck and trailer work here too
Your WTR endorsement, so you can self load or jump on rollers and other gear on site
Loader or digger time — we've got operator roles too
Experience carting hotmix or asphalt, or transporting heavy machinery
ConstructSafe or Site Safe, and Traffic Management tickets
Benefits
$30–$33+/hr, paid weekly — and it's a real employee rate. Class 5 and WTR work pays more.

About us
MLH is a Canterbury labour hire company that places truck drivers and plant operators with good local civil and roading contractors. You'll be a proper MLH employee — not a contractor, and not a number in a pool. You'll work on our clients' sites, but you're our but you're our staff, and we look after you like it, with one person at MLH who knows you.
