About the company
Our client is an international specialist in advanced engineering and infrastructure solutions, with a strong reputation for delivering technically complex projects in operational environments.

With a growing presence in New Zealand, they bring together engineering expertise, innovative technology and a collaborative approach to deliver major infrastructure and automated systems projects.

The Role

Love being out on site, building relationships and making safety happen where it matters?

Here's an opportunity to put your HSE experience to work on a complex, high-profile engineering project in South Auckland.

This is a hands-on role where you'll be right amongst the action, working alongside project managers, engineers, contractors and site teams to manage risk and support the safe delivery of works.

We're looking for someone who can see the bigger picture, anticipate potential issues and work with people to find practical solutions. Someone who understands that good safety isn't just about systems and paperwork, it's about conversations, relationships and getting people on board.

You'll also play an important part in maintaining HSE compliance, coordinating activities and keeping project stakeholders informed.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Provide practical HSE advice and support across project activities
  • Identify critical risks and verify effective controls on site
  • Review safe work methods, permits and contractor activities
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Monitor isolation procedures, overlapping works and commissioning activities
  • Build strong relationships with contractors and project stakeholders
  • Investigate incidents, follow up corrective actions and share learnings
  • Prepare HSE performance reports and maintain compliance documentation
  • Support environmental, wellbeing and sustainability initiatives
About you

You're a confident, approachable HSE professional who enjoys being part of a project team rather than watching from the sidelines.

You know how to build credibility with people at every level, from contractors on the tools through to senior project leaders. You're comfortable having the tough conversations when necessary, but equally understand the value of listening, collaborating and finding a way forward.

You'll bring:
  • Relevant health and safety qualifications
  • Experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering or industrial environments
  • Sound knowledge of NZ health and safety legislation and high-risk work activities
  • Confidence with contractor management, risk assessments and safe work systems
  • Experience with incident investigations, audits and HSE reporting
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence
  • A practical, proactive approach and the confidence to work independently
Experience with mechanical or electrical installations, complex machinery or commissioning activities would be particularly valuable.

Most importantly, you're someone who enjoys being visible, approachable and involved. You know when to challenge, when to guide and how to bring people along with you.

Why this role?
You'll join a collaborative, technically capable project team where people work together to overcome challenges and deliver results.

This is an environment that values initiative, ownership and practical thinking. You'll have the opportunity to make a visible contribution, work across diverse project activities and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

On offer:
  • Exposure to technically complex, high-risk engineering projects
  • An established international business with a long-term project pipeline
  • A collaborative team environment that values your contribution
  • Onsite parking
