About the role

You'll combine hands-on HR consulting with building local relationships and client base for King & Co in Canterbury. This is a part-time role with scope to grow towards full-time as client demand develops, and a pathway opportunity into a senior business role shaped by your capability, contribution and the growth of the Canterbury business. You'll work closely with Managing Director, who visits Christchurch fortnightly, and the wider team.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver practical HR and employment relations advice aligned with each client's business needs

  • Support performance management, employment processes, policies, agreements and organisational change

  • Build trusted relationships through regular client contact and onsite visits

  • Identify where clients would benefit from further support across services

  • Attend weekly networking, including early-morning networking meetings, and build local connections

  • Meet referral partners and prospective clients, follow up opportunities and help turn conversations into new work

  • Work alongside the Managing Director to make the most of the fortnightly Christchurch visits

About you

  • Solid New Zealand HR experience and sound employment relations knowledge

  • Ability to give clear, commercially practical advice with good judgement

  • Enjoy working with business owners, asking good questions and understanding what they need

  • Confident enough to work independently and comfortable seeking support when a matter needs another perspective

  • Enjoy connecting with people and willing to get out into the business community

  • Existing Canterbury network would be welcome, but initiative and willingness to build one matter too

  • Love HR, take pride in your work and want to keep learning
