About Us & The Workshop
We are a well-established, family-owned and operated heavy engineering business with a proud history spanning over 70 years in Auckland. Following a smooth ownership transition where the current owner was personally mentored by the longstanding former owner, we have preserved our deep trade roots while building a strong future.

We take great pride in our small, loyal, highly experienced, and passionate workshop team. We specialise in custom, short-run, and heavy repair jobbing work where no two days are the same. This role is ideally suited to a trade professional who has a genuine passion for traditional engineering and takes pride in true craftsmanship rather than repetitive production line work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual engineering machinery, including manual lathes and milling machines.

  • Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and sample components to machine one-off custom parts or perform heavy repairs.

  • Work to tight tolerances on large-scale and varied components.

  • Maintain a safe, orderly working environment and keep equipment in top condition.

Key Requirements

  • Passion & Work Ethic: A strong, reliable work ethic and a genuine passion for engineering are essential. We need someone who shows initiative, takes pride in quality work, and fits seamlessly into a close-knit, passionate team.

  • Qualifications & Experience: Trade qualified Machinist, Fitter-Turner, or equivalent mechanical engineering trade, with a minimum of 5+ years (intermediate) or 10+ years (senior) of hands-on heavy engineering experience.

  • Machining Mastery: Proven expertise independently setting up and running manual lathes and milling machines.

  • Location/Work Rights: Must currently reside in New Zealand with valid work rights (Work Visa, Residency, or NZ Citizenship).

  • Track Record: Provide solid references from previous employers. Be prepared to detail the machinery you have operated or share examples of work/projects.

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly rate reflecting your experience and trade skills.

  • Stable 40-hour week with weekend freedom (Mon–Fri 7:30am – 4:00pm, flexibility available for the right candidate).

  • Diverse, interesting work in a respected heritage workshop with over 70 years of history.

  • Long-term job security within a supportive environment, with backing to upskill and grow with the business.
