About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our dynamic data platform team. In this critical role, you will design, build, and operate scalable, enterprise-grade data platforms with a core focus on dbt, Apache Airflow, and complex Snowflake migration projects.

This position offers flexible hybrid or remote working arrangements from anywhere in Australia, allowing you to collaborate seamlessly with our distributed teams.

Key Highlights & Core Specializations

  • dbt (data build tool): Drive scalable transformation workflows, implement modular modeling practices, and ensure data quality and lineage across the platform.

  • Apache Airflow & Orchestration: Develop, manage, and scale complex batch orchestration workflows alongside Control-M to ensure seamless data pipeline execution.

  • Complex Snowflake Migrations & Architecture: Lead and execute large-scale, enterprise-level Snowflake migrations, optimizing data warehouse design, virtual warehouses, and storage for peak performance and cost-efficiency.

  • DevOps & CI/CD: Implement robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to automate code integration, testing, deployment, and release management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Design & Integration: Design and operate scalable data platforms using Snowflake and Azure cloud services, collaborating with solution architects to align with enterprise data strategies.

  • Pipeline Development: Develop and maintain data pipelines and ingestion frameworks using Snowflake, dbt, and Azure-native services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Blob Storage).

  • Security & Access Control: Implement and govern Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), fine-grained access policies, and data classification-based access controls in Snowflake to support secure data consumption.

  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Snowflake queries, storage, and workload performance.

  • Collaboration: Partner cross-functionally with data analysts, data scientists, architecture, security, and operations teams to align platform solutions with business requirements and drive continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, cloud data platforms, or senior platform engineering roles.

  • Deep expertise in Snowflake, including schema design, query optimization, access control, and complex migration projects.

  • Proven production experience with dbt for data transformation and modeling.

  • Strong experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration and scheduling.

  • Strong proficiency in Azure cloud services (data integration and storage) and Python/SQL scripting.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Terraform, Azure DevOps).

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
