Are you an experienced Fabricator Welder who enjoys variety, problem-solving and seeing a project come together from start to finish?
Bakels Edible Oils is looking for a skilled, hands-on Fabricator Welder to join our Engineering Team at our Mt Maunganui site. This is an opportunity to put your fabrication and welding skills to work across a range of site projects, mechanical installations and equipment modifications in a busy manufacturing environment.
We're looking for someone who is confident across both disciplines – someone who can take a drawing, select and prepare materials, fabricate components and deliver quality welding work to a high standard.
What you'll be doing
Working alongside our Fabrication Lead and wider Engineering Team, you'll play an important role in delivering projects that keep our manufacturing operation running safely and efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include:
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints and specifications.
Selecting, measuring, cutting and preparing materials for fabrication.
Carrying out hands-on fabrication, assembly and welding of components and structures.
Working with stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel.
Using TIG, MIG and Arc welding techniques.
Completing mechanical installations and equipment modifications as part of site projects.
Inspecting completed work to ensure quality, accuracy and required tolerances.
Working collaboratively with engineers, maintenance and manufacturing teams to resolve technical challenges.
Maintaining accurate fabrication records and ensuring work meets relevant quality, safety and compliance requirements.
What we're looking for
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
Proven experience in BOTH fabrication and welding – this is essential.
A relevant mechanical or fabrication trade qualification, or at least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
Experience with TIG, MIG and Arc welding.
Strong experience working with stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel.
The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
A methodical approach, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Experience in food processing, food and beverage manufacturing or meat processing would be highly regarded, particularly if you've worked with pumps, pipes, valves and process equipment.
