Smythe Contractors is looking for an Intermediate Estimator to join our Cambridge team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with solid estimating experience who wants to further develop their skills while contributing to technically complex civil infrastructure projects.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Based in Cambridge, you will support the preparation of accurate, well-structured tenders across a range of civil construction projects. Working alongside experienced estimators and project teams, you will:
Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates
Support tender planning, pricing, and submission
Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing
Contribute to methodology development and risk identification
Assist with tender handovers to delivery teams
This role offers strong mentoring and development opportunities as you build toward senior-level capability.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following skills, experience, and attributes:
A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or similar, or equivalent experience
Around 3 to 5 years of estimating experience in civil construction
Experience across Three Waters, utilities, or general civil works
Sound understanding of estimating principles and construction methodologies
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Confident communication and relationship-building ability
