Great clubs don’t run on passion alone. They need someone who can bring people together, keep the bigger picture in focus and turn good ideas into action. That’s where you come in.

Hautapu Sports Club brings together rugby, netball, hockey, touch and more, supported by dedicated volunteers, players, families and supporters. We’re looking for a proactive Sports Club Manager who can coordinate people, manage competing priorities and keep a busy organisation moving forward.

Being part of the local community is important in this role. You’ll build relationships face-to-face, develop a strong understanding of the club and its people, and be a familiar, approachable presence. Living locally or being able to spend regular time in the area, will help you build the connections and visibility this role needs.

Strong administrative skills are essential, but your real value lies in how you manage the moving parts: connecting people, providing direction, solving problems and identifying opportunities to help the club grow.

The role

Working closely with the Board, sporting code leads and volunteers, you’ll play a central role in Hautapu Sports Club’s day-to-day management and ongoing development.

You’ll gain broad experience across operations, programme coordination, communications, sponsorship, partnerships and community engagement, with genuine scope to improve processes and shape the club’s future. For someone who enjoys supporting their community, growing professionally and seeing the tangible impact of their work, the exposure and experience on offer could be significant.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Managing operations: Coordinate activities, priorities, systems and processes to keep the club running smoothly

  • Coordinating people: Support sporting code leads and volunteers, building alignment and helping everyone work towards shared goals

  • Overseeing junior sport: Support the effective delivery of junior sporting codes, working closely with the Junior Sport Coordinator and volunteers

  • Driving growth: Develop opportunities through new sporting codes, events, sponsorships and community partnerships

  • Managing communications: Oversee newsletters, social media and member updates

  • Maintaining systems: Coordinate calendars, records, apparel and merchandise, working alongside the Finance Administrator.

  • Managing competing demands: Make decisions, solve problems and adapt quickly in a busy environment.

You won’t be managing every sporting code directly; you’ll provide the oversight, coordination and connection that helps the wider club succeed.

What will you bring?

You’re an experienced manager with outstanding coordination and administrative skills behind you, or coordinator who can see the bigger picture while keeping the details on track. You’ll bring:

  • Excellent time management and the ability to juggle competing priorities

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills

  • Sound judgement, initiative and the ability to think on your feet

  • Confidence managing systems, processes and administration

  • A practical, collaborative approach and a genuine interest in sport and community.

Hours and flexibility

Approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility around working arrangements, including working from home. Regular club visibility is important, alongside some flexibility to attend activities and events outside standard business hours.

Ready to be part of something special?

If you enjoy variety, thrive on bringing people and priorities together, and want to make a tangible difference in a community you can connect with, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
