About the role
As Venue Manager, you'll be the face of Nevis Bluff Wines & Outpost and take ownership of its day-to-day operation. You'll welcome everyone from passionate wine lovers and visitors to the Gibbston Valley, to bike groups, tour operators and locals looking for somewhere relaxed to enjoy good food, great wine and the Central Otago experience. You'll be hands-on, commercially minded and comfortable making things happen. Alongside running the Cellar Door, you'll help grow our Wine Club, develop events, drive direct sales and build strong relationships with tourism, accommodation and hospitality businesses across the region.
Key responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operation of Nevis Bluff Wines & Outpost
Create warm, engaging and memorable guest experiences
Host wine tastings and bring the Nevis Bluff story to life
Introduce guests to our wines, broader beverage offering and dining menu
Drive Cellar Door sales and make the most of every customer opportunity
Grow our Wine Club and direct customer relationships
Manage bookings, groups, events and private tastings
Develop relationships with local tourism, accommodation and hospitality businesses
Maintain high standards of presentation and service
Manage stock, POS, customer orders and dispatch
About you
Minimum two years' experience in a management role
Experience in wine, hospitality, tourism, retail or another customer-facing environment
Excellent communication, hosting and people skills
Confidence talking about and selling wine to a wide range of customers
A natural ability to build relationships and make people feel welcome
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Initiative and a proactive, can-do approach
Experience with POS and stock/customer management systems
The ability to work effectively within a small team
A current Duty Managers Certificate
A full NZ driver licence and reliable transport
