Product Manager - Home Lending Government Scheme

Shape home lending products that can help more Australians on their path to home ownership.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of government-supported home lending products, combining product strategy, customer insight and commercial thinking with the governance needed in a highly regulated environment.
Working across TMBL’s Home Lending business, you’ll help manage and enhance products connected with government home ownership initiatives. You’ll use portfolio insights, market developments and customer feedback to improve performance and customer outcomes, while partnering with government agencies and teams across the bank to turn policy and scheme changes into well-managed solutions.

Why this role matters

Government-supported lending schemes can play an important role in helping eligible customers access home ownership.
As Product Manager - Home Lending Government Scheme, you’ll manage these products across their lifecycle, helping ensure they remain aligned with customer needs, business objectives, scheme requirements and regulatory obligations.

It’s a role where product performance, customer experience and strong governance come together.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll:
  • Manage and enhance government-supported home lending products across their lifecycle, contributing to product strategy, roadmaps and portfolio priorities.
  • Monitor scheme utilisation, customer trends, competitor activity and portfolio performance, turning data into recommendations that inform product, pricing and investment decisions.
  • Assess government policy and scheme changes, coordinating implementation across product, operations, technology, distribution and other impacted areas.
  • Use customer feedback, complaints and operational insights to identify pain points and deliver improvements to home lending journeys, processes and communications.
  • Manage product governance activities including documentation, product reviews, scheme obligations, controls and reporting, ensuring risks and regulatory impacts are identified and addressed.
  • Build effective relationships with government agencies, scheme administrators and internal stakeholders to support ongoing scheme participation, change and new opportunities.
What you’ll bring

Essential
  • Product Management experience within Home Lending or Retail Banking, with a strong understanding of mortgage products and lending processes.
  • Experience developing product strategies and delivering product enhancements or change initiatives.
  • The ability to interpret portfolio, customer and market data and turn it into clear product recommendations.
  • Experience working with risk, regulatory and product governance requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to communicate recommendations and influence decisions across different business areas.
  • A bachelor’s degree.
Nice to have
  • Experience with government-supported home lending would be particularly valuable, including knowledge of schemes such as Help to Buy, First Home Guarantee, Family Home Guarantee and Regional First Home Buyer Guarantee.
  • Experience engaging with government agencies or regulatory stakeholders, together with a qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics or a related discipline, would also be beneficial.
  • If you bring much of this experience but not every preferred requirement, we’d still encourage you to apply.
