We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join our team at Scenic Hotel Te Pania. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys painting, decorating, general maintenance, and leading by example. You'll play a key role in maintaining our hotel to a high standard while delivering a safe, welcoming environment for both guests and staff.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Oversight of the running of the department including determining work requirements and allocation of duties.
- Oversight of preventative maintenance schedule and routine checks.
- In coordination with the General Manager and Property Team, prioritise and schedule maintenance tasks for the property and grounds.
- Preparation and maintenance of Maintenance department rosters and attendance records.
- Planning, budgeting, and ordering for the Maintenance department.
- Ensuring that training is coordinated, structured, and aligned with service standards.
- Taking a proactive approach to implementing service improvements to drive departmental success.
- Fixing or replacing faulty equipment and appliances in guest rooms, common areas, and back-of-house facilities.
- Conducting carpentry work, such as repairing furniture, doors, and cabinetry.
- Painting and maintaining the interior and exterior surfaces of the hotel.
- Handling minor repairs and maintenance tasks in guest rooms, such as changing light bulbs, and adjusting room fixtures etc.
- General grounds & landscaping work if required.
- Prior experience with building repairs / maintenance
- Relevant trade qualification (preferred but not essential)
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Strong painting, decorating, and general trade skills.
- Confident completing hands-on repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Guest-focused with a high standard of workmanship.
- Full NZ Drivers Licence is required.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and in writing)
