Immediate start | Recruitment experience is a must | Help rangatahi step into their potential!

About Us

At Lifeskills, we believe in bringing help and hope to our communities.

Our mahi is driven by purpose grounded in Christian values and guided by Te Ao Māori. We uplift people, one whānau at a time, helping rangatahi overcome barriers, build confidence, and step into their potential.

From Tāmaki Makaurau, Tauranga to Ōtautahi, our team walks alongside thousands of young people and whānau each year through education, housing, and employment programmes. We believe every person deserves a fair chance, and it starts with opportunity, connection, and belief.

About the Role

We’re looking for an Employment Consultant - Navigator to join our Christchurch team, delivering the Welfare that Works – Community Job Coaching (CJC) programme in partnership with MSD.

This is a frontline role where you’ll make a direct impact by coaching, placing, and advocating for rangatahi aged 18–24 as they transition from benefit into sustainable mahi.

You’ll lead interactive work-readiness sessions, actively source and match rangatahi into real job opportunities, and leverage established employer relationships across Ōtautahi to create pathways into employment.

You'll also provide ongoing in-work support for both rangatahi and employers to support retention and success. No two days will be the same — one morning you’ll be running a motivational group workshop, the next you’ll be out visiting a rangatahi at their new job, celebrating their first payslip.

Key Responsibilities & What You'll Bring

✅ Strong facilitation and group engagement skills with young people
✅ Youth-development, strengths-based approach (Mana Taiohi / Te Whare Tapa Whā)
✅ Demonstrated recruitment, employment placement, or labour-market experience
✅ Established employer networks and local labour market knowledge in Ōtautahi / Christchurch
✅ Confidence engaging employers and matching rangatahi to suitable roles
✅ Experience coaching rangatahi into employment using a positive, solutions-focused approach
✅ Full NZ driver’s licence and ability to meet Police Vetting requirements

About You

You’re a connector, a motivator, and a doer! You understand people, especially young people and you know how to open doors for them. You thrive on results, but never at the expense of relationships.
