The Role
At Breen Construction, we're passionate about building more than just projects. We're helping build the future workforce of the construction industry.
This is a unique opportunity to step away from the pressures of commercial project delivery and use your industry experience to shape the next generation of builders.
TradeBase is a unique secondary school programme that gives students the opportunity to start their apprenticeship by building a 2-bedroom house while still at school. As the TradeBase Tutor, you'll lead and supervise students through every stage of the build, teaching practical construction skills, promoting safe work practices, and helping them gain valuable hands-on experience aligned with industry standards. Working closely with Wakatipu High School and BCITO, you'll mentor students as they develop confidence, work readiness and a genuine understanding of what a career in the trades can offer. While the students do the learning, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the project is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard, creating an environment where young people can succeed both on site and in their future careers.
A full-time position, this role offers the best of both worlds: mentoring future tradespeople during term time and applying your trade skills across a range of Breen’s construction projects during school holiday periods.
