About the role

Robur Hire is looking for a motivated, capable Yardman / Hire Controller to run our Rolleston branch. You'll be the main point of contact for all things operations, running day-to-day hire operations and taking responsibility for the branch. You'll work alongside our Sales / Business Development Manager, whose focus is 100% on growing the business and winning new customers. They bring the work in; you make sure it's delivered smoothly, safely and on time. No two days are the same, and you'll have real ownership from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Be the main point of contact for all operational matters at the branch

• Run day-to-day hire operations, from bookings to returns

• Take responsibility for the branch's presentation, performance and smooth running

• Keep equipment availability, scheduling and the hire fleet under control

• Clean, inspect and maintain hire equipment after every job

• Check and prepare gear before it goes out, so it's safe and fit for purpose

• Process bookings and schedule equipment

• Answer calls and handle customer enquiries professionally

• Arrange freight, deliveries and collections, including booking carriers where needed

• Carry out deliveries and collections in the company vehicle as required

About you

• Confident taking ownership: you run your own day and make decisions

• A self-starter who works well without close supervision

• Highly organised, with a sharp eye for detail

• Clean and tidy, with pride in your work and your workspace

• Reliable, punctual and committed to doing the job right

• A confident communicator, face to face and on the phone

• The holder of a full, clean New Zealand driver's licence

• Experience running operations, a hire desk or a branch (bonus)

• Engineering, welding or fabrication skills, or a trade background (bonus)

• Basic mechanical knowledge and hands-on maintenance experience (bonus)
