About us
Vanlifer designs and builds campervans out of our Wairau Valley workshop. We make flat-pack conversion kits for New Zealand’s most popular vans (Hiace, Transit, Sprinter and more), sold across NZ and Australia. We also do fleet builds, commercial fit-outs through our sister brand WorkVan, and CNC-cut cabinetry for other converters.
Everything we make starts in Fusion 360 and finishes on our CNC. We’re after someone to help design it.
The role
Design van cabinetry, furniture and kit components in Fusion 360: kitchens, beds, storage, seating
Work from 3D scans of van interiors to design accurate, well-fitting parts
Build parametric models that adapt across van models and layouts
Prepare CNC-ready files: nesting, toolpaths and sheet optimisation
Produce part lists, cutting lists and assembly drawings for the workshop and DIY kit customers
Work with the build team on prototypes and refine designs from feedback
Must have
Strong Fusion 360 skills (modelling, assemblies, drawings)
CNC knowledge: nesting, toolpaths, and how parts get cut and assembled
Experience working with 3D scan data (point clouds or meshes)
Cabinetry or joinery knowledge: joints, hardware, sheet materials, tolerances
The right to work in NZ
Nice to have
Rhino experience
Fusion CAM
Van, marine, RV or furniture design experience
Hands-on workshop or build experience
Who we’re looking for
