Talent Right is proud to partner exclusively with Fiesta Bulb to recruit a reliable, hands-on team member to join their farming operation in Kimbolton.

This is a varied role spanning cultivation, harvesting, machinery operation, and general farm work throughout the season. It's suited to someone who's just as comfortable behind the wheel of a tractor as they are helping out in the shed, someone who takes pride in a job well done, works efficiently without constant supervision, and adapts to whatever the season requires.

About Fiesta Bulb

Fiesta Bulb is a well-established New Zealand grower with a long history in the flower bulb industry, particularly daffodils, dahlias, and peonies. The business is also expanding into garlic, with both crops following very similar processes through the season.

The operation runs across two sites with a close-knit team of around 30 people. The Kimbolton site is the working farm, where planting, harvesting, grading, and sorting take place. From there, the product moves to the Palmerston North site, where it is packed and dispatched to customers.

This is a stable, long-standing family-run operation with practical leadership, modern equipment, and a no-nonsense team culture.

About the Role

Based at the Kimbolton farm, you will be part of a team responsible for running the day-to-day operations on the farm, planting and harvesting crops into bulk bins, which are then transferred to the pack house for sorting and grading.

You will work across a variety of tasks which change depending on the season, daffodils and garlic through summer, dahlias and peonies through winter, so no two periods of the year look quite the same. While machinery experience is valued, we're just as focused on finding someone with the right attitude: practical, team-focused, and ready to get stuck into whatever the day requires.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate tractors and agricultural machinery safely and efficiently
  • Carry out cultivation, planting, harvesting, and general field operations
  • Operate implements and equipment accurately and with care
  • Handle bin operations during harvest, including loading and transfer to the pack house
  • Assist with machinery setup, adjustment, and basic maintenance
  • Identify and report machinery faults or operational issues promptly
  • Work alongside management and team members to complete seasonal tasks efficiently
  • Maintain a tidy, organised, and safe work environment
  • Assist with other farm and operational duties as required during busy periods
The Ideal Candidate

We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds, including horticulture, agricultural contracting, large-scale cropping and similar production industries, as well as civil construction, landscaping, utilities, forestry, and ex-military. What matters most is the right mindset: practical, mechanically minded, team-focused, and willing to take ownership.

Machinery and Practical Skills
  • Tractor or heavy machinery experience is highly regarded (agriculture, construction, forestry, utilities, or military backgrounds all welcome)
  • Cultivation and harvesting experience is a bonus, but not essential; training and support will be provided
  • Mechanically minded with good practical problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable learning new equipment and adapting to different machinery
  • Ability to operate equipment accurately and with care
Work Ethic and Reliability
  • Reliable and dependable day-to-day
  • Able to work long hours during peak seasonal periods when required
  • Works efficiently without needing constant supervision
  • Takes pride in doing jobs properly and to a high standard
Character
  • Honest and trustworthy
  • Calm under pressure and able to adapt during busy harvest periods
  • Positive attitude and willing to help where needed
  • Takes feedback constructively and works well within a team
Health and Safety
  • Strong awareness of safe machinery operation
  • Follows operational and safety procedures consistently
  • Forklift licence preferred, or willingness to obtain
Physical Capability
  • Physically fit and capable of handling hands-on farm work, on your feet all day
