Our client is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead building operations across a Class A office portfolio in the Scottsdale and Phoenix area. This hands-on opportunity combines technical leadership, tenant service and the autonomy to keep high-quality commercial properties operating at their best.

Your New Employer

Our client is an established Canadian-based real estate organization with a commercial property portfolio spanning Canada and the United States. Known for its commitment to operational excellence and quality property management, the company takes pride in maintaining high-performing buildings and delivering exceptional tenant service. Its collaborative, team-oriented culture encourages employees to take ownership of their work, share their expertise and contribute to the continued success of the portfolio.

Your New Role

Reporting to the Property Manager, you will oversee daily building operations of three Class A office properties.  You will supervise and support a maintenance technician, coordinate preventative maintenance, conduct inspections and ensure reliable performance of HVAC, chiller, building automation and fire/life safety systems.

You will respond to building issues and emergencies, troubleshoot and complete appropriate in-house repairs, coordinate vendors and obtain proposals for larger repairs and capital projects. Working closely with property management, you will support tenant improvements, maintain equipment records and critical inventory, monitor work orders and communicate clearly with tenants and contractors. The position participates in an on-call rotation and requires travel between nearby properties.

What Sets You Apart

You bring substantial hands-on commercial building operations experience, including at least two years in a Chief Engineer or comparable leadership role preferably with Class A office properties. Strong experience with HVAC systems and chillers, together with sound knowledge of electrical, plumbing, building automation and life safety systems, is essential.

You are technically capable, proactive and comfortable making sound decisions under pressure.

Equally important, you are patient, approachable and service-oriented, with the ability to mentor a team member through positive coaching and build strong tenant relationships. Familiarity with computerized work-order systems, Yardi Voyager and building energy-management systems is valuable. Relevant BOMA building systems training is an asset.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of operations for a well-located Class A office portfolio while remaining closely involved in technical problem-solving. You will work with a collaborative property management team, guide an emerging maintenance professional and contribute directly to building reliability, tenant satisfaction and upcoming capital improvements.
