About the Role
As the Hire Fleet Manager, you will lead the operational performance of our hire fleet across New Zealand, ensuring safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery of products and services.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will oversee multiple branches (both manned and unmanned) and lead a team of operational professionals to drive fleet utilisation, business performance and continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational excellence, championing a high-performance culture while ensuring safety, compliance and exceptional customer outcomes remain at the forefront of everything we do.
This role is located in Drury, near Auckland and comes with a Tool of the Trade Vehicle

In This Role, You Will
- Lead, coach and inspire a geographically dispersed operations team.
- Drive operational excellence across multiple branches and hire fleet locations.
- Maximise fleet utilisation, availability and commercial performance.
- Deliver outstanding customer experiences through safe, efficient service delivery.
- Partner with Sales to support growth, pricing and utilisation strategies.
- Champion a strong safety-first culture and ensure compliance across the region.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and profitability.
We're seeking an experienced and people-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and is passionate about building high-performing teams.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience leading and managing teams autonomously, with the ability to inspire, coach and develop others.
- At least 3-5 years' experience in a middle to senior management role, ideally within construction, manufacturing, logistics, hire, or a related industry.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement, with the ability to balance competing priorities while delivering results.
- Excellent planning, organisation and time management skills, with a track record of successfully managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A collaborative leadership style and genuine commitment to fostering a positive, high-performance "One Team" culture.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence outcomes and navigate challenging conversations when required.
- Demonstrated experience leading change, driving accountability and delivering operational and commercial performance improvements.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience working with operational or scheduling systems.
- Experience within the construction, modular building, hire, manufacturing or related industries.
- Knowledge of building regulations and industry standards.
