Site Team Leader, Christchurch
Vending Direct Ltd is New Zealand's leading vending solutions provider, keeping Kiwis fuelled with snacks, beverages and nutrition right across the country. Our Canterbury operation is growing, and we need the right leader to keep it running smoothly every single day.
We're looking for a hands-on, decisive Site Team Leader to be the driving force behind our Canterbury operations. You'll lead our replenishment, technical and warehouse teams, and you'll be the critical link between planning and what actually happens on the ground.
About the Role
Reporting to the National Planning Manager, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operational and people leadership of the Canterbury region. You'll open the depot, brief the team, keep vehicles moving, resolve issues at site level, and make sure our machines across the region are stocked, clean and running.
This is a varied, active role, and no two days are the same. You'll be across everything from team performance and fleet compliance to inventory coordination and customer relationships.
The role is Monday to Friday, with a 6:00am start and a minimum of 40 hours per week, based at our Christchurch depot in Hornby with a rostered Saturday once a month. A company van is provided for operational use.
What You'll Be Responsible For
People Leadership
Lead and develop the Christchurch team across driving, technical and warehouse functions, including the Warehouse Manager
Set clear expectations and hold the team to them, including attendance, punctuality and service standards
Address performance and conduct issues early, keep accurate records, and work with People & Culture on formal processes
Approve timesheets and leave, and monitor time records against vehicle and system data
Support onboarding of new team members and maintain a cross-training skills register
Operational Leadership & Depot Management
Open the depot and lead the daily team briefing, covering job allocation, priorities and safety reminders
Oversee vehicle loading and dispatch, making sure all vehicles leave on time and fully equipped
Monitor execution throughout the day to maintain service levels
Resolve issues at site level, escalating only where genuinely necessary
Conduct end-of-day checks, making sure vehicles are returned, stock is reconciled and the depot is secured
Coverage & Workforce Support
Cover planned and unplanned absences across driving, technical and warehouse functions
Coordinate with the National Planning Manager when gaps can't be resolved at site level
Fleet & Asset Coordination
Conduct or oversee daily pre-start vehicle checks for roadworthiness and correct load-out
Make sure all WOFs, registrations, service records and driver licences are current at all times
Report vehicle faults immediately, so no non-compliant vehicle goes on the road
Maintain a vehicle defect log and make sure all issues are resolved within 24 hours
Inventory & Technical Support
Work closely with the Regional Inventory & Procurement Coordinator on stock availability and demand
Assist with vending machine and smart fridge servicing, troubleshooting and minor repairs
Site Management & Customer Relationships
Conduct regular site visits to verify machine uptime, cleanliness and stock presentation
Build and maintain strong relationships with site contacts and key customers
Log and communicate all customer concerns or feedback to the National Planning Manager within 24 hours
Health, Safety & Compliance
Promote and enforce safe working practices across all functions at all times
Identify and resolve hazards proactively rather than waiting for incidents
Investigate and report all incidents and near misses within 24 hours
Make sure all team members hold current licences and certifications for their role
What You'll Bring

3+ years' experience in logistics, field service or operational environments
Proven people leadership experience, including managing performance, attendance and difficult conversations

Preferred
Experience in a multi-function environment covering field service and warehouse
