If you know your way around a concrete line pump and you’re ready to step up and lead on site, this is your chance to join one of the East Coast’s most respected construction teams. It’s a hands-on role with real variety, real responsibility and work you’ll be proud to point out every time you drive past it.
ABOUT CURRIE CONSTRUCTION
Currie Construction (2012) is a second-generation, family-owned business that has been building Tairāwhiti since 1985. Brothers Sam and John Currie took the reins in 2012 and have grown the company into a leading commercial and civil contractor, with a team of 80+ people.
Since then, the team has delivered more than 200 projects from Wairoa to East Cape, from footpaths and seawalls to the inner harbour development, flood protection and major school rebuilds. Their work on the Gisborne District Council Emergency Centre picked up a Silver Award at the 2025 New Zealand Commercial Project Awards, and with a strong pipeline of civil and commercial work across the region, there’s plenty more to come.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Running the pump: operating concrete line pumps on civil projects across the Gisborne region, from setup to clean-down.
Planning the pour: planning and organising concrete pours and civil tasks with the project team.
Looking after the gear: keeping the truck and pump in top shape with regular checks and maintenance.
Leading on site: when you’re not pumping, stepping in as leading hand across the wider business, from site preparation to keeping the crew on track.
Setting the standard: leading by example on health and safety and helping keep every site a safe one.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Concrete line pump experience
A clean NZ driver licence (Class 2–4)
Experience leading on civil construction sites
A can-do attitude and willingness to get stuck into a range of tasks
Strong time management and clear communication
Good physical fitness, and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test if required
WHY CURRIES?

Variety every week. Pumping one day, leading a civil crew the next, on a mix of projects across the East Coast.
Local and family-owned. Hands-on owners who know the region and back their people.
Room to grow. Currie Construction are committed to developing their people, and this role is a genuine step up into site leadership.
A team that’s got your back. Work alongside experienced engineers, project managers and civil crews who know their stuff.
