Ready to lead health, safety and wellbeing across a diverse organisation spanning New Zealand and Australia?

We’re looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager to lead Aspire2 Group’s approach to creating safe, healthy and psychologically safe workplaces.

Reporting directly to the Group CEO, you’ll be our lead health and safety professional – providing advice and assurance to the Board and senior leadership while staying connected to our people and workplaces across New Zealand.

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who can move comfortably between strategy, governance and practical implementation. We want someone visible, approachable and solutions-focused – someone who understands that great health and safety is about bringing people with you, not creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

What you’ll be doing

As Aspire2 Group’s lead health and safety professional, you’ll provide trusted advice and assurance while continuing to strengthen our health, safety and wellbeing culture.

  • Lead and continually improve our Group health, safety and wellbeing strategy, framework and systems.

  • Advise and report to the Board, Group CEO and senior leaders on performance, critical risks, incidents and emerging issues.

  • Lead the identification and management of critical, physical and psychosocial risks.

  • Oversee risk assessments, audits, inspections, incident investigations and corrective actions.

  • Provide health and safety oversight for our Australian operations, working in conjunction with regional site managers to support consistent standards, risk management and compliance.

  • Keep Aspire2 ahead of changes to relevant health and safety legislation, regulation and regulator guidance in New Zealand and Australia.

  • Support leaders and teams to understand their responsibilities and make good health and safety decisions.

  • Champion psychological health, worker wellbeing and meaningful employee engagement.

  • Chair the Aspire2 Group Health & Safety Working Group and drive consistent good practice across the Group.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an experienced health and safety professional who is credible with senior leaders, approachable with teams and confident turning complex requirements into practical solutions.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Solid experience in a dedicated health and safety role, ideally across multiple locations or dispersed teams.

  • Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and New Zealand health and safety requirements; familiarity with Australian WHS requirements would be advantageous.

  • Practical experience in risk assessment, critical risk management and incident investigation.

  • Experience developing and improving health and safety systems, policies and processes.

  • Sound knowledge of psychosocial risk and workplace wellbeing.

  • The ability to interpret legislation and turn it into clear, practical action.

  • Strong reporting, analytical and communication skills.

  • Confidence working with Boards and senior leaders, while being equally comfortable engaging with people on the ground.

  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to constructively challenge when needed.

  • The ability to influence and build a positive safety culture – not just enforce rules.

  • A relevant health and safety qualification, preferably NZQA Level 6 or above.

  • The ability to travel throughout New Zealand as required.

NZISM accreditation, NEBOSH, HASANZ registration/eligibility, psychosocial risk training or incident investigation qualifications would be advantageous.
