The Company: Petware Ltd is a privately owned New Zealand based Pet Products supplier with a secondary Petware Australia Ltd business. The company is well established (1973), and has been operating under current management since 2015, with a management buyout in 2021.

The company is engaged in: Warehousing & Distribution, Manufacturing & International Sourcing, plus we have a specialist eCommerce business. Petware provides pet owners with almost everything for their pet, except the actual pet.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Company Accountant to oversee our internal financial systems, maintain accurate general ledgers, and support our growth strategy. You will work closely with senior management and handle tax and reporting requirements for our New Zealand and Australian operations.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements) aligned with NZ IFRS

• Manage end-to-end general ledger accounting, journal entries, and regular bank and account reconciliations

• Oversee tax obligations, including GST, PAYE, Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT), and provisional tax filings with Inland Revenue (IRD)

• Lead annual budgeting processes, monitor ongoing expenditures, and deliver variance analyses to business unit managers

• Monitor incoming customer payments and outgoing vendor disbursements to maintain healthy cash flow, including management of Trade Finance

• Manage the end-to-end processing of weekly payroll, including submitting payday filing to Inland Revenue (IRD)

• Coordinate internal and external audit processes, maintain fixed asset registers, and ensure strong financial internal controls

• Oversee administration for our Australian business including liaison with external accountants
