  • The DC Manager is the single point of accountability for end-to-end operations of a 2 lakh sq ft Lifestyle distribution centre serving both offline (store replenishment) and online (e-commerce) channels. This covers inbound receiving, put-away, inventory, store dispatch, e-commerce order fulfilment, returns and DC administration.
  • Deliver high throughput at the committed service levels — dock-to-stock, order-to-dispatch, e-commerce ship-on-time and inventory accuracy — while controlling cost per unit, space utilization and manpower productivity.

Lead a large multi-shift team of managers, supervisors, 3PL partners and contract workforce, and hold DC safety, security, hygiene and process governance to standard through a structured daily, weekly and monthly review mechanism.

  • End-to-end ownership of a 2 lakh sq ft omni-channel DC — inbound, put-away, inventory, store replenishment, e-commerce fulfilment and returns
  • Throughput and service-level governance — dock-to-stock, order-to-dispatch, e-commerce SLA, OTIF and inventory accuracy
  • Capacity, space and peak planning for seasonal launches, End of Season Sale (EOSS) and online sale events
  • Leadership of a large multi-shift workforce, 3PL partners and contract manpower, with productivity and cost control
  • Hands-on WMS / ERP control — SAP EWM and S/4HANA transaction discipline, master data accuracy and exception clearance
  • DC safety, security, statutory compliance, loss prevention, 5S and audit readiness

DC Strategy, Capacity & Space Planning

  • Plan DC capacity — storage, dock, MHE and manpower — against the volume forecast for both offline and online channels.
  • Optimise layout, zoning, slotting and space utilisation across the 2 lakh sq ft facility, including dedicated e-commerce and returns zones.
  • Prepare peak plans for season launches, EOSS and online sale events — manpower ramp-up, shift extension and temporary capacity.

Inbound Operations

  • Govern appointment scheduling, vehicle acceptance, unloading, GRN, quality check and put-away to meet the same-day dock-to-stock commitment.
  • Ensure receipts are booked accurately in SAP EWM / S/4HANA on the same day, with zero pending GRNs and clean open-document status.
  • Track dock-to-stock TAT by vendor and lane, and close bottlenecks at unload, GRN or put-away with corrective actions.

Offline Outbound — Store Replenishment

  • Plan and control wave release, picking, packing, sorting and dispatch of STOs to stores against operating cut-offs.
  • Deliver order-to-dispatch and OTIF targets by store and region, with zero split or partial dispatches without approval.
  • Coordinate with transport partners on vehicle placement, loading, route adherence and proof of delivery.

Online Fulfilment — E-commerce

  • Own end-to-end e-commerce fulfilment — order release, pick, pack, invoice, manifest and courier handover — for own website and marketplace orders.
  • Deliver ship-on-time and same-day dispatch against order cut-offs, and minimise order cancellations due to stock or process failures.
  • Manage courier partner pickup adherence, B2C packaging standards and order accuracy to protect the customer experience.

Inventory Management & Accuracy

  • Maintain bin-level inventory accuracy through cycle counts, periodic physical inventory and timely variance resolution.
  • Ensure the shared inventory pool is correctly available to both channels, with blocked, quality and damaged stock segregated and cleared.
  • Control shrinkage, adjustments and write-offs, and keep SAP EWM and S/4HANA stock positions reconciled.

Returns Management — RTW, RTV & Customer Returns

  • Process store returns (RTW), e-commerce customer returns and RTO shipments within the agreed receipt and processing TAT.
  • Grade returned stock and restore saleable inventory to the pool quickly; route damaged and defective stock for RTV or liquidation.
  • Ensure RTV dispatch, vendor pickup and debit note closure, with zero aged returns on the floor.

Throughput & Productivity Management

  • Set and track productivity norms — units per manhour for receiving, put-away, picking, packing and dispatch — by shift and function.
  • Balance work across inbound, offline and online flows daily to protect service levels during high-volume periods.
  • Drive continuous improvement through Lean, 5S and process redesign to raise throughput without proportional cost increase.

Team & Manpower Management

  • Lead a large team of managers, supervisors, white-collar staff and blue-collar workforce across shifts, with clear ownership and span of control.
  • Plan deployment against throughput norms; control absenteeism, attrition and overtime, and manage contract and 3PL manpower vendors.
  • Build capability through structured onboarding, SOP training, skill matrices and multi-skilling across offline and online processes.
  • Set goals, review performance and drive engagement, discipline, industrial relations and grievance handling on the floor.

Cost & Budget Management

  • Own the DC operating budget — manpower, 3PL, packaging, MHE, utilities and facility cost — and deliver cost per unit targets.
  • Validate 3PL, manpower and service vendor bills and ensure accurate month-end provisions.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities in packaging, manpower deployment, energy and space utilisation.

Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Ensure zero-incident operations through fire safety, MHE safety, PPE compliance, emergency drills and safety audits.
  • Enforce security and loss prevention controls — CCTV, gate controls, frisking, high-value cage and seal management.
  • Maintain statutory compliance — Factories Act, Shops & Establishments, labour law, contract labour, fire NOC and licences — and audit readiness.

Systems — WMS / ERP & Automation

  • Operate hands-on in SAP EWM and S/4HANA — inbound and outbound deliveries, warehouse tasks and orders, physical inventory and stock movements.
  • Enforce system-first transaction discipline: no physical movement without a system transaction, and no day closed with open documents.
  • Maintain master data hygiene — storage bins, handling units, packaging specs, UOM and warehouse process types.
  • Partner with IT and central SCM on enhancements, RF / handheld rollout, automation (sorters, conveyors) and UAT for new processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Buying, Planning / Allocation, E-commerce, Store Operations, Finance and Transport teams on volumes, priorities and issue resolution.
  • Align DC capacity with season launches, promotions, new store openings and online sale calendars.
  • Coordinate with vendors, transporters and courier partners on inbound compliance, pickups and service performance.

Reporting & Review Mechanism

  • Daily: shift handover and performance review on dock-to-stock, order-to-dispatch, e-commerce ship-on-time, order pendency, manpower attendance and safety incidents.
  • Weekly: operations review on productivity, inventory accuracy, returns pendency, audit points and manpower plan versus actual.
  • Monthly: business review with the GM — KPI dashboard, cost per unit and budget versus actuals, improvement projects and action-closure status.
