We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Construction Supervisor to join our Tauranga team.

The role will cover the standard G.J. Gardner Homes construction process, with a strong focus on the finishing stages of each project, quality control, handover, and aftercare.

You will take ownership of bringing homes through their final stages to a high standard, identifying and resolving defects, coordinating trades, maintaining accurate construction documentation, and communicating clearly with clients.

Following handover, you will manage our aftercare process, ensuring maintenance and warranty items are properly assessed, documented, scheduled, and completed within agreed timeframes.

This role would suit someone with strong practical construction knowledge who takes pride in quality, communicates well, and is particularly effective at closing out the final details of a project.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise residential construction projects in accordance with the G.J. Gardner Homes process.

  • Maintain a strong focus on the finishing stages of each build.

  • Complete detailed quality-control and pre-handover inspections.

  • Identify defects, incomplete work, and presentation issues before handover.

  • Prepare and manage snagging and completion lists.

  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to complete outstanding work efficiently.

  • Ensure homes are clean, complete, compliant, and ready for handover.

  • Keep clients informed throughout the final stages of construction.

  • Conduct or support client handovers and explain relevant home systems, warranties, and maintenance requirements.

  • Manage post-handover maintenance, defects, and warranty requests.

  • Assess reported issues and determine the appropriate response, trade, or supplier.

  • Communicate expectations and timeframes clearly to clients.

  • Schedule and follow up trades until all agreed aftercare work has been completed.

  • Maintain accurate records of client communication, inspections, defects, maintenance requests, and completed work.

  • Assist with construction documentation, including variations, inspection records, producer statements, warranties, compliance information, Code Compliance Certificate requirements, and handover documentation.

  • Work closely with the wider construction, estimating, administration, and sales teams.

  • Monitor workmanship and hold subcontractors accountable for quality and completion.

  • Ensure health and safety requirements are followed across all supervised sites.

  • Help improve our finishing, handover, and aftercare systems over time.

  • A practical, solutions-focused approach.

  • A current New Zealand driver license.

  • A relevant building qualification or trade background would be an advantage.
