Are you an engineer who enjoys solving complex, real-world water problems? Whether you are a recent graduate, have completed postgraduate study, or bring a few years of professional experience, we would like to hear from you. This role is suited to someone who wants to apply engineering thinking, data and technology to water and land management challenges.
Aqualinc is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading water and land management consultancies. We work across a wide range of sectors and project scales, combining engineering, science and data to develop practical solutions for complex water challenges. Our work ranges from hydrological advice for individual farms and developments to regional and national-scale modelling, analysis and strategic decision support. You will have opportunities to tackle varied problems, test ideas, and help turn technical insight into outcomes that work in practice.
We offer a professional, friendly and flexible working environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers, scientists and consultants who will support your technical development, professional growth and increasing project responsibility.
What will help you succeed?
A natural problem solver who enjoys working through complex problems where the answer isn't obvious.
Strong analytical and coding skills, ideally using Python for data analysis or modelling.
Curiosity and imagination: the ability to explore options, test assumptions, identify practical solutions and think clearly about future scenarios.
Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain technical work to clients and colleagues.
Experience or interest in one or more of the following would be an advantage:
Water resources engineering and hydrology, including irrigation
Surface water or groundwater modelling
GIS and spatial analysis
Water quality and environmental systems
Data science, optimisation or decision-support tools
This is a full-time position based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The salary will be commensurate with the experience and capability you bring.
