Enjoy being the person managers turn to for practical HR advice? Comfortable getting involved in the detail while improving how things work?

Resourcing4HR is supporting a growing recruitment business in Watford to appoint an HR & Compliance Manager. Reporting to the CEO, you will lead day-to-day HR and help strengthen the people processes needed for the next stage of growth.

This will suit someone who enjoys working in an SME, building relationships with a sales team and taking responsibility for getting things done. An HR Administrator is planned to be recruited after this appointment, giving you support as the function develops.

What you will be doing

  • Managing employee relations, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence and investigation matters, and coaching managers through people decisions.
  • Reviewing policies, contracts and processes, keeping them current and making practical improvements across the employee lifecycle.
  • Overseeing onboarding, payroll, pensions, benefits and Right to Work processes, with HR data and reporting to support decisions.
  • Working with the leadership team on workforce planning, employee retention, engagement and organisational change.
  • Overseeing wider compliance activity, including ISO systems and audits, rail accreditations, health and safety, facilities and company fleet processes. The final balance of this remit will be discussed in light of the successful candidate’s experience.

What we are looking for

You will bring broad generalist HR experience, confident employee relations skills and a sound understanding of UK employment law. Experience in a sales-led business would be particularly helpful, together with an understanding of the pace and practical demands of a smaller organisation.

You may already be an HR Manager, or a Senior HR Advisor with the depth of experience and judgement to take ownership of the function. You will be comfortable doing the administration when needed as well as advising senior stakeholders.

ISO or wider HSEQ experience would be a real advantage. Strong HR candidates without this specialist background will also be considered, particularly those a sales environment.

How you work matters. You will listen, build trust and involve colleagues in improvements, bringing a proactive approach and the confidence to offer constructive advice.

Working arrangements and benefits

The role is office-based for the first three months. Any flexibility afterwards would be agreed individually with the CEO. This is a full-time role with an early Friday finish, subject to work being completed.
Benefits include on-site parking, pension, private healthcare and annual leave increasing with service; full details will be confirmed during the process.
