About the role
Fable Dunedin Hotel is an award-winning luxury hotel in the heart of Dunedin. There is now a one of a kind opportunity for a Maintenance Manager to look after the day-to-day maintenance of our hotel facilities and rooms. In accordance with Fable standards, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all aspects of the hotel and its grounds, structure, and systems in order to achieve both optimum operating efficiency and safe use of equipment at all times.
This is a full-time role, typically 40 hours across the weekdays. However, availability over the weekends is required in case of urgent maintenance issues or emergencies.
Key responsibilities
Handle routine maintenance issues
Maintain the building, plant, equipment, gardens and outdoor areas to the brand standards
Communicate with hotel departments regarding maintenance needs and action accordingly
Monitor purchasing practices to ensure budgets are met
Support and initiate programmes for the improvement procedures and the reduction of energy and utility costs
Ensure maintenance requests are conducted within a reasonable time frame and minimising disturbance to the operation
Act as hotel co-ordinator or liaison with outside contractors and agencies when assigned duties in connection with major projects or additions
Be responsible for reporting hazards, incidents, and ensuring your actions do not put others at risk.
Assist with other duties as directed by management
Undertake repairs when necessary, including after hours due to the 24/7 nature of the hotel industry
Requirements for this role include
Minimum 5 years' experience in property or facilities maintenance, preferably at premium hotel properties
Relevant trade qualification or maintenance experience (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
Strong knowledge of building systems and preventative maintenance
Sound knowledge of health & safety, fire and life protection in relation to your role
Self-motivation and discipline, someone with passion for getting the job done to a high quality
The ability to attend to the property outside of normal hours if critical repairs are required
Strong problem solving skills
Well groomed, personable and friendly
Physically fit, able to lift more than 15kgs
Reliable and honest personality
NZ Citizen, Resident, or holder of a valid NZ work permit
