Got a taste for quality and want to own the shift? Cookie Time Limited (CTL) is looking for a confident, hands-on Quality & Technical Coordinator to join our Technical team as the lead quality and technical person on our afternoon shift in Auckland.
About Us
Cookie Time Limited is a highly successful, entrepreneurial and innovation-led food company. For over 40 years, we've been making some of New Zealand's most loved food brands: Cookie Time, Bumper, OSM, Em's Power Cookies and Higgins. Our business covers franchised distribution, retail, licensing and manufacturing. Quality and food safety are central to everything we do, and we're looking for someone who shares that passion.
About the Role
Reporting to the Quality Lead, you'll be the main quality and technical representative on the afternoon shift. You'll give production teams real-time guidance and coaching, and you'll help us make safe, legal, high-quality products.
You'll work closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and New Product Innovation to:
Lead the first response to quality and food safety incidents, including identification, containment and initial investigation of non-conformances.
Help production leaders make informed quality and food safety decisions and escalate significant risks when needed.
Carry out GMP audits and verification activities, including sensory evaluation, moisture testing, inwards goods checks and sampling.
Manage product on hold and segregation and follow up until each one has a clear decision.
Investigate product, process and packaging issues, spot trends and drive improvements.
Help develop and review SOPs, work instructions, specifications and other technical documents.
Coach production teams on quality, GMP, food safety and process controls.
Promote a positive Health & Safety, Food Safety and Quality culture.
Write clear shift summaries and handovers.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who is:
Confident working independently and comfortable being the go-to quality person on shift.
Calm and decisive under pressure, with the judgement to make sound calls and escalate when needed.
A natural coach and influencer who can win people over without having direct authority.
Proactive and solutions-focused, taking ownership of issues and seeing them through.
Detail-oriented but practical, with strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
Collaborative and approachable, and respectful of people from diverse backgrounds.
Passionate about food safety, product quality and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
At least 3 years' experience in a quality, technical, QA or QC role in food manufacturing.
Experience in a GFSI-certified food manufacturing environment. FSSC 22000 knowledge is preferred.
Sound understanding of HACCP, GMP and quality management systems.
Experience investigating non-conformances and putting corrective actions in place.
Bakery or FMCG experience is highly desirable.
A qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related field is an advantage.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and data analysis.
