About the role
Reporting to the Innovation Manager, you will lead multiple new product developments, to enable us to stay at the forefront of nutrition for seniors. Innovate from our kitchen lab through to full-scale production. Your work will make a difference to senior nutrition around the world.
About us
The Pure Food Co makes familiar food safe, for people who need texture modified meals. Founded in New Zealand in 2013, we have spent 13 years making Level 4 Pureed and Level 5 Minced and Moist products alongside aged care providers and hospitals. Our food is trusted across approximately 80% of the New Zealand aged care sector and all public hospitals, in more than 600 Australian facilities, and now also in France, Belgium and Switzerland.
What you will be doing
Overseeing multiple new product developments from concept through bench-top, pilot and factory trials to launch. Formulating fortified foods that deliver better nutrition for the people who eat them.
Maintaining project timelines, preparing for gate reviews and tracking key deliverables.
Taking the lead on implementing improved processes, including automation where possible, to lift quality, food safety and productivity.
Provide technical leadership with our suppliers and third-party manufacturers, making sure products are made to our standards.
Work closely with Quality, Operations, Procurement, Sales and Marketing, and with dietitians and customers, to bring the right products to market.
What you will bring
A tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related field.
Experience and background in new product development in food manufacturing, with a proven record of taking innovation from concept to commercial production.
Demonstrated knowledge of nutrition, including experience formulating foods fortified with protein, vitamins and minerals.
A strong grasp of ingredient functionality, particularly proteins, starches and hydrocolloids, and how they affect texture and stability.
Experience with working with third-party manufacturers.
Why you should apply
If you are an experienced food technologist who wants ownership and the freedom to innovate, this is a chance to shape a product range that directly improves the health and quality of life of older adults.
Put your stamp on it. You will lead projects end to end, from the kitchen lab to the factory floor, with the freedom to try new ideas and see them through.
Work that matters. Your products end up on the plates of people in aged care and hospitals, and you will see the difference good food makes.
Nutrition at the core. Fortification and protein density are central to what we do, so your nutrition knowledge will shape every product you touch.
A supportive Innovation team. You will work alongside people who back your ideas and give you honest feedback, in a collaborative team that lives our values: We Care, We Innovate, We Deliver.
Work close to the product. Our head office, kitchen lab and manufacturing site sit together on Savill Drive, Otahuhu, so your ideas move quickly from bench to production.
