About the role

Stevenson & Taylor Ltd is looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Hawke's Bay. This is a full-time, permanent position involving both workshop and field-based work, servicing, diagnosing and repairing tractors and agricultural machinery, including New Holland and Case IH equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing tractors and heavy diesel machinery

• Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults

• Carrying out workshop repairs and field servicing

• Attending breakdowns and assisting customers on-site

• Working independently and as part of a supportive team

• Maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service

About you

• Ideally, a National Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Level 4), specialising in Heavy Diesel, or an equivalent qualification

• Proven experience in a heavy diesel workshop environment

• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills

• Good communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude

• Ability to work independently and use initiative

• Willingness to participate in an on-call roster when required

• Substantial relevant heavy diesel experience considered even without preferred qualification
